Why we built this

Every product AKdev publishes starts the same way. Something we needed, where what already existed was priced well beyond what the job was worth, or was available and simply not very good. SwingFactor is the decision analysis one.

Hard decisions are rarely short of opinions. They are short of a clear view of what the opinions rest on. A board paper argues for one option; the appendix holds the numbers; the risk that actually matters is a sentence on page nine. When people disagree, they mostly disagree about two or three things nobody knows yet — and those are the hardest things to see in a document written to persuade.

SwingFactor takes the question apart instead. Each proposition the choice rests on becomes its own item, with its own evidence and its own sources. Dependencies show what else moves when one thing does, and the uncertainties that could change which option wins are marked. What is left open is sorted into what to find out, what to build or test, and what is simply yours to decide.

Where it deliberately stops

SwingFactor drafts, because drafting is slow, and a person accepts every part of it, because judgement is not. SwingFactor will not rank what is left open unless you tell it what you are constrained by, and even then the order is yours. It does not average two people’s estimates into one, and it does not score an option. It shows you what the choice depends on; the choice stays with whoever has to live with it.

Who builds it

SwingFactor is built and published by AKdev Ltd, a small independent software studio registered in Scotland, Companies House number SC892925. It is not venture funded and there is no second revenue line. The subscriptions are the business, which is the only reason the privacy policy can promise there is nothing here to sell.

Small cuts both ways and it is worth saying which ways. Support reaches the people who build the product rather than a tier of it, so answers tend to be direct and reasonably quick. It also means work happens in an order rather than in parallel, and a request that would be a sprint somewhere larger may simply be a no here. If what you need is a platform with a roadmap and an account manager, that is a legitimate requirement and this is not it.

What happens to your data

Your questions, and everything modelled under them, belong to your workspace, which is stored in London. When SwingFactor drafts, it sends that question and its sources to Anthropic’s API, outside the UK, for Claude to read, and nothing else is sent to the AI. Product analytics record counts and timings, never what anyone wrote. Any workspace, on any plan, can download everything as one JSON file.

Retention, deletion and export are governed by AKdev’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, which cover every app it publishes. If SwingFactor were ever discontinued you would be given notice and a window to take everything with you — that commitment lives in the Terms rather than only on this page.
